Town Roads

• The normal roadway repairs we do are: pot hole patching, cutting dead trees, ditching, sign replacement & installation, installing & replacing drainage pipes, mowing roadsides & all Town properties including cemeteries, maintaining the Town Parks, oil & stone surface applications & paving our roads.
• Street Sign, Stop Sign or a Warning Sign - if these are damaged, please call the Highway Department to get it replaced or repaired as-soon-as possible.

The Town has three bridges over 20 feet span: Two on Hoxie Gorge Road and one on Blue Creek Road

Road Hazards

Highway Law States: Any person who shall deposit or throw loose stones in the gutter or grass adjoining a town highway, or shall deposit or throw upon a highway, ashes, papers, snow, ice, stones, sticks, or other rubbish, shall be liable to a penalty not to exceed one hundred dollars to be sued for and recovered by the town superintendent. No stone or other rubbish shall be drawn to and deposited within the limits of any highway, except for the purpose of filling in a depression or otherwise improving the highway, and only with the written consent and under the direction of the town superintendent.

Road Sign Safety

Road sign safety aims to reduce the harm (deaths, injuries, and property damage) resulting from motor vehicle collisions. Harm from road traffic crashes is greater than that from all other transportation modes (air, sea, space, off-terrain, etc.) combined. The town maintains 1410 various roadway signs. We are constantly trying to keep them up to date. If you see anyone trying to steal a sign, please call the sheriff office.
