Recreation Commission

Little known fact, that Town owns and operates five Parks. In addition to Testa Park and Gutchess Sports Complex, there are two parks in Blodgett Mills and a small park on Lamont Circle.

The Town Board has appointed the Town Recreation Commission in an attempt to be advised by people involved in sports at various levels. Members of this Commission include: John Folmer, Matt Coats, Abe Johnson, Machell Phelps, and Katie Wagner. Ms. Phelps serves as Secretary of the Commission, and its meetings are facilitated by John Folmer. Each Commission member brings a unique vision of sports in general, and individually offer different input as to specific sporting concerns.

The Commission’s mission is two-fold: First, to advise and suggest to the Town Board ideas as to the services, programs, and equipment to be provided at the park facilities to make all of them publicly available and user friendly, and Second, to receive comments, concerns, and ideas from the general public.

At present, the Commission is dealing with three main concerns: drainage problems at Testa Park soccer fields, the addition of multi-purpose fields at Gutchess Park, and the creation of Pickleball facilities.
Comments from the public may be directed to the Supervisor's office.
